We’re pleased to welcome a new member of staff to the central team at the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research.

Postgraduate Training Co-ordinator

Julia Davies joins the Centre as Postgraduate Training Co-ordinator, based at Swansea University.

Julia comes with a background in genetics and a PhD in Gynaecological Oncology, both completed at Swansea University. For the last five years, she was, again, based at Swansea University as Chromatrap Technical Manager for Porvair Sciences Ltd. This post was in collaboration with the Reproductive Biology and Gynaecological Oncology Research Group where Julia led and supported the development and application of new products using Chromatrap technology.

A diverse team

Julia is looking forward to working with the diverse team at the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research. She said:

‘As the post-graduate training coordinator for the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research, I look forward to organising a training and leadership platform for the PhD students and post-doctoral researchers within the Centre to help develop and advance the skill sets they need to become the best researchers they can be in asthma research.’

Julia is taking on the role from Lauren Blake as she enjoys her maternity leave. Julia will be liaising with PhD student across the Centre to help us build capacity and capability in the applied asthma research field.
