Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research

Methodology

Supporting and driving forward excellence in research methodology

Why is methodology important?

The Methodology group within the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research is a crucial resource for our research.

Its core role is the sharing of expertise in planning, executing and analysing data from pragmatic trials and implementation research - making sure that the research we do is completed efficiently and to the highest possible standard.

What do we do?

There is a need to develop innovative methods to test and evaluate new ways of doing research. We are developing clinical trials in asthma using cutting edge designs - such as trials using routine electronic health records.

A key area of focus within the Centre is the development of effective study designs to evaluate digital interventions in the treatment of asthma. Digital tools, such as apps, are a rapidly growing field in health care with the potential to make a significant impact. But there is a need for novel and fast ways to evaluate these new interventions, in order to ensure they deliver maximum patient benefit.

We are keen to collaborate with groups to share expertise. Please get in touch to find out more about what we do.
