Sarah completed an undergraduate degree in Anatomy (BSc Hons) at University of Glasgow before gaining some experience in the commercial pharmaceutical industry as an associate safety specialist. Following this she finished a Masters in Nursing at Northumbria University and began her nursing career working in Cardiothoracic Critical Care in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Sarah began a research nurse role at the Clinical Research Facility in Newcastle, working on Phase I to III clinical trials. She later accepted a job within the Clinical Research Facility at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh gaining further experience in clinical trials from Phase I to IV. Sarah now works within the Critical Care Research Group working on all trials within the team from intensive care research to perioperative & anaesthetic trials. She particularly enjoys conducting follow up visits with patients recovered from a stay within intensive care. Outside of work Sarah is an active member of a local Research Ethics Committee.
