Scottish NMAHP Research Awards

ECCRG's ICU Rehab and Follow Up Team were runners-up in the recent Scottish NMAHP Research Awards (Innovation Category). The awards were hosted by the Chief Nursing Office and NMAHP Research Unit at the University of Stirling.

The group was recognised for their development of a novel clinician role; a dedicated ICU-specific Rehab Assistant. The role was highly valued by patients and ward-based clinicians in a recent randomised controlled trial of post-ICU rehabilitation in NHS Lothian (RECOVER study). The role and service has since been integrated into routine clinical practice, with a view to extending it to other patient groups with complex needs.

ECCRG's innovative e-health resource (website) was also celebrated at the awards ceremony. The website was based on over 120 interviews with patients and family members, and offers meaningful information, advice and support, using a range of patient-focused media.

Ongoing and future work will integrate the website into the existing Rehab and Follow Up service, view a view to continuing to offer individualised support to our patients after hospital discharge. For more information and to check out the website, follow the link below.
