Towards precision medicine in acute pancreatitis 29th August 2019

Chair: Susan Shenkin

Damian Mole “Towards precision medicine in acute pancreatitis.”

Damian is an MRC Senior Clinical Fellow in the University of Edinburgh Centre for Inflammation Research, and a liver and pancreas surgeon at the Royal Infirmary. Damian’s research is focussed on acute pancreatitis (AP), specifically investigating the molecular mechanisms that underpin systemic inflammation and the development of multiple organ failure. Damian is the academic PI on a Discovery Partnership with Academia with GSK, translating inhibitors of the kynurenine pathway into the clinic as therapy for AP. His senior fellowship is studying senescence as a legacy of systemic inflammation, and as a cause of organ hypofunction after experimental pancreatitis. Damian has a vision of making precision medicine in AP a reality, but does not underestimate that challenge!
