The post-2015 development agenda and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)

With the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) expiring in 2015, the post-2015 development agenda is very much at the forefront of current discussion and debate.

A recent article from Edinburgh University researchers, Professor James Smith and Dr Emma Taylor in PLOS: Neglected Tropical Diseases entitled “MDGs and NTDs: Reshaping the Global Health Agenda” highlights NTDs and the hope that in the post-2015 development agenda these will be given special mention.

NTDs are neglected for many reasons, scientific, economic and technical. In re-thinking both the MDGs and what will replace them we can try to ensure that 'political' is not simply added to that list
