Core Systems Programme
Details of the Core Systems Programme
The University of Edinburgh is undertaking a full review of its strategy and long term plan regarding our Core Systems - the main enterprise business systems that integrate and facilitate internal and external management information, and the software systems that underpin the professional services, administration and operation of the University.
Chief Information Officer, Gavin McLachlan, is leading on this review, the scope of which includes the HR, Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Estates, Research Information, Customer Relationship management, and Student Administration, and Recruitment and Admissions systems. Here's a video introduction from Gavin which introduces the new Core Systems Programme .
Under the Service Excellence Programme, part of the overall Core Systems Programme strategy is to deliver the successful replacement and implementation of the HR, Finance, Payroll, and Procurement systems over the next five years. During 2017/18 the focus of the programme will be to procure a new HR system.
This will allow the University to move away from older (and in some cases paper-based) services and processes towards more common administrative practices and deliver significant benefits.
The Core Systems team is being assembled. This team will engage with colleagues in the University, other HEIs and Gartner to continue to scope requirements and evaluate options. You can see a list of our Core Systems Board members under the People section.
