Tuition fees for studying undergraduate medicine in 2017-2018.
College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine
From 2016/17 all international students at Scottish Medical Schools must make a contribution to the teaching costs of the NHS (the ACT levy).
The University of Edinburgh is subsidising this charge for students, and the fee rate provided includes the portion being paid through student fees.
No additional payment for the NHS ACT levy above the fee rate will be required from students.
Medicine MBChB - 6 year programme
There has been a restructuring of fees for overseas (non-EU) students who start the MBChB course in 2017-18.
This reflects additional costs of tuition within the National Health Service, and the change to a fully integrated six-year course which includes the award of a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours) Degree in addition to the MBChB degree.
These changes to the fees have been balanced across the pre-clinical (years 1-3) and clinical years (years 4-6).

The overseas fee rate for the intercalating year will be equivalent to that of other BSc(H) programmes - the fee level has not yet been confirmed for session 2018-19.
Medicine MBChB - 5 year programme
The annual fee rate for overseas students who commenced their MBChB studies after 1 August 2014 is fixed for the duration of their programme.
The annual fee rate for overseas students on programme prior to 1 August 2014 is subject to an annual increase of normally 5%.
