How we manage parking

The University of Edinburgh operates a Parking Management System to ensure that those with the greatest need to park are able to do so.

University parking permits

The Parking Office is responsible for the management of over 30 University car parks within the Central Area, King's Buildings, Abden House, Easter Bush and BioQuarter.

We are also responsible for the allocation of permits for staff, students, visitors, and contractors. Anyone wishing to park in a University car park must display a valid parking permit and adhere to the University of Edinburgh Parking Regulations.

How permits are allocated to staff and students.

Parking permits are valid for the calendar year. Applications are invited each autumn to apply for permits valid from 1st January.

Staff and students can appeal the decision to refuse them a permit.

Access to University car parks is determined by permit type.
