The Bike Station

The Bike Station is Edinburgh's bicycle recycling and cycling promotion charity who repair unwanted bikes and put them back on the road. Each year they sell thousands of refurbished second hand bikes.

The Bike Station is located just off Causewayside, conveniently located for staff and students based in the Central Area or at the King’s Buildings.

Recycled bike sales

The Bike Station always endeavour to have a wide range of recycled bikes available. Proceeds from the sale of bikes supports The Bike Station's work promoting cycling.

Donations

Please contact the Bike Station if you would like to donate a bike. The Bike Station are also happy to receive donations of any unwanted parts and accessories.

The Wee Spoke Hub

The Wee Spoke Hub is a community-led cooperative based in Edinburgh (part of SHRUB Coop) that is working towards a world without waste whilst trying to get people out on their bikes. They sell refurbished bikes, as well as new and second-hand bike parts. They operate a tiered pricing system with discounts for people on low-incomes.

Pedal Forth

Pedal Forth is an independent bike shop based in Leith offering: bike repairs, bike service, bike hire, new and second hand bikes sales. 

Soul Cycles

Based on Brougham Place, just by the Meadows at Tollcross, this shop sells second hand bicycles from all eras and all shapes and sizes, as well as a small range of accessories.

Eastside Bikes

Eastside Bikes is a bike repair shop that also buys and sells second-hand bikes. It is located on London Road, near Meadowbank Shopping Centre.

Velow Bikeworks, based in Portobello, are a second hand bike shop. They specialise in hand-built custom bikes and restorations.

ProjektRide is a bike shop based in Newington. They sell new and secondhand bikes and parts, and also offer servicing. They also sell a student cycling bundle consisting of a bike, a lock, a helmet, and lights.

Police Scotland bike auction

Police Scotland sell unclaimed items that are handed-in to the lost property office at a public auction. Members of the public have the opportunity to purchase goods with all items going to the highest bidder and no reserve prices set for any of the items on sale. Bikes are regular entries to the auction.
