Adaptive bikes make cycling accessible to people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. The Edinburgh All-ability Bike Centre has a wide range of adaptive bikes to try out.
Adaptive bicyles come in a variety of designs that enable people with disabilities or long-term health conditions to get around by bike. Examples include handcycles, tricycles, recumbents, and side-by-side bikes.
The Edinburgh All-ability Bike Centre at Saughton Park, working in partnership with Thistle, have a fleet of adaptive bikes that can be tried out at weekly sessions.
The Cycle To Work scheme can be used by staff members wishing to purchase an adaptive bike. Applications for adaptive bikes are eligible to go above the usual £3000 limit if required to purchase a suitable bike.
