Main Examination Diet
CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Key decisions have been taken regarding exams:
- Pre-honours undergraduate students (SCQF levels 7 and 8): you will not have exams for pre-Honours (Years 1 and 2) courses. There may be a small number of exceptions to this, where a professional or statutory regulatory body (PSRB) requires students to complete further assessment. Your School will advise you if this is the case.
- Honours undergraduate and postgraduate (taught) students (SCQF levels 9, 10 and 11): exams will be replaced either with additional coursework assessment or timed take-home (“open-book”) exams offered remotely.
Further updates will be communicated to you as more details become available.
Invigilators specific update
The University will not be running the Main 27th April – 22nd May exam diet. All fixed date exams are also cancelled until further notice. There will be no requirement for exam invigilation in the immediate months. We are liaising closely with HR and further updates will be communicated to you as more details become available.

Exams Main Diet Success
Following the successful implementation of Exam Scheduler in July 2018, the Examinations Team has successfully delivered another examination diet. In total 20,757 students, sat exams across 1047 courses, which equates to over 56621 sittings within a 4 week timescale.
Data, which populates the timetable is set up by Schools in EUCLID and feeds into the software. Student data is pulled through e.g enrolments and any additional adjustments, which is put in place in consultation with Disability Services.
Students now receive a personalised timetable, which confirms dates, times and locations of exams. Students can obtain their timetable through various mobile devices with the assistance of Office365.
Web Room Booking 19/20
Semester 2
The Web Room Booking system is currently available to University of Edinburgh staff to book general teaching spaces during Semester 2.
Meeting Rooms
Centrally managed meeting rooms are available to request for the academic year 19/20. We ask that you are patient with receiving a confirmation as it may take us a couple of days to process and confirm booking requests.
Locally Managed Spaces
If you request a locally managed room, the confirmations are completed by the local gatekeeper. Please contact the local gatekeeper (contact details are on our website) if you require an update regarding your request.

Timetabling and Examinations have reviewed its strategy for years 2019 – 2022.
Grouping its goals and objectives around three focus areas: Improvement of users experience, achieving process excellence, and better data integration and visualisation.

Timetabling Reporting Website Now Live
Timetabling’s new reporting website is now live, featuring a wide-range of reporting and usage analysis on both teaching space and School/student timetable data. It is envisaged as a one-stop, self-service information source for all colleagues in Estates, Colleges, Schools and senior management to access relevant data and analysis.
We will be updating this site regularly, providing summary analysis at the end of each semester.

We are currently working on
The team are working hard to support the fully centralised service. Around 14,000 of an estimated 26,000 core teaching activities are prepared and ready for 2019/20 rooming. Room Allocation Process (RAP) scheduled to commence 17th June, may be subject to delay to ensure enough time for completion of data preparation. Contingency has been built into this timeline to ensure the integrity of the data quality. It is key to build confidence with users across the University now the service is being fully delivered by the centrally dedicated team.
SEP SAS014 Medicine Timetabling and Room Booking: project board confirmed 'go-live' date of either 8th or 15th July, with a phased migration period of room booking categories through to Oct 2019. In total, around 26,000 bookings across 170 rooms will be prepared for migration to central timetabling across this period.
The May exam diet has now concluded. It’s been a very successful exam diet, with no major issues reported. Currently Exams team is preparing for publication of timetable for resit diet.
