Serge Charchoune 'Impressionisme Ornamental' (1930)

Curated by Glasgow-based artist Merlin James, this was a unique exhibition of work by Franco-Russian painter Serge Charchoune (1888 -1975). Connected to movements including Cubism, Dada and Purism, Charchoune nevertheless evaded easy definition or stylistic consistency within Modernism, commenting, 'I keep a low profile, and thus a lot of freedom'.
