Carry reusable items

From reusable coffee cups to bags for life, there are lots of ways to cut down on throw away packaging and single use items.

Reusable coffee cups

Covid-19 update

For hygiene reasons, both University-owned cafés and Students' Association cafés are temporarily not accepting reusable cups.

All hot drink prices in University cafés show the price customers will pay if they bring their own reusable cup; while customers without cups will be charged 30p to purchase a disposable cup.

Both University-owned cafés and Students' Association cafés accept all reusable cups.

Buy a KeepCup from a University or Students' Association café and get your first hot drink free.

Reducing waste is increasingly important to our staff and students. We are pleased to have changed our policies to now allow all reusable cups to be used in campus cafés, and believe that the charge for using a disposable cup will encourage more of our customers to 'bring their own'.

Reusable water bottles

It is University policy to provide free tap water in all the catering outlets and buildings and encourage staff and students to use tap water in preference to bottled water.

In June 2018, the University and Students' Association announced that more free drinking water points were being installed across the campuses to allow staff and students easier access to free water and to reduce the amount of single-use bottles used on campus.

Bag for life

Carrier bags are a visible aspect of litter. Their mobility means they end up in water courses and the marine environment, where they cause significant damage.

In the UK, there is a 5p charge for single use carrier bags. Save money and help the environment by carrying your own reusable bag with you.
