Volunteers needed to help map green spaces
The University of Edinburgh is looking for volunteers to test a greenspace mapping app on their smartphones.
The mapping tool will provide up-to-date monitoring of the location and quality of green spaces in the city, based on the Natural Capital Standard developed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust to contribute to the Edinburgh's Thriving Green Spaces project. As a volunteer, you will receive training in the use of the tool through a virtual 1-hour session.
The mapping should take each volunteer no more than a few hours. It's a great opportunity to become familiar with how types of green spaces are being valued for biodiversity and health and wellbeing, and you will have input into the tool development process.
Due to Covid-19, we are holding virtual training, and also want to recruit those who are local to Cramond, or can get there through active travel. Once there, social distancing measures will be in place, so mapping will be carried out either individually or in family units.
