Our investments

The University has a long standing commitment to responsible investment, formally recognised in our 2003 policy and reiterated in our 2013 commitment to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

Edinburgh was the first university in Europe to commit to the PRI and in 2014/15 we undertook a review of the policy which resulted in a change to our approach. As part of our commitment to the PRI, our first transparency report was published in 2015 and all evidence reviewed during the year was also made available online.

We continue to work to put the six Principles for Responsible Investment into practice which includes incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) into investment analysis and decision making processes and to seek disclosure on the entities in which we invest. A further sector review is taking place in 2015/16. All of the fund managers we work with are also signatories to the PRI.
