The University became the first in Scotland to be recognised by the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), gaining a two-star ‘excellent’ accreditation in 2015.

Catering staff completed the SRA’s rigorous and wide-ranging assessment that covers sourcing, society and environment, enabling the University to become one of fifteen accredited universities across the United Kingdom.

The second annual Freshers' Food Festival welcomed over 600 students to celebrate good food, introducing students to food that is tasty, healthy and good for the environment. There was a special focus on promoting student societies, small local businesses and organisations that place good food at the heart of their activities.

Students learnt about the efforts of both the University and the Edinburgh University Students' Association to integrate sustainable food into their vision and operations.
