Climate Week 2017

Climate Week (Monday 18 - Friday 22 September 2017) aims to raise awareness of and inspire action on climate change. Take part in one of a number of events happening across campus.

Transition Edinburgh: launch of "Pathways to zero carbon Edinburgh"

Tuesday 19 September, 6 - 8pm

Room G.0X, 50 George Square

Transition Edinburgh is a community-led organisation that strives for a greener, fairer, healthier and more resilient Edinburgh. Staff and students are warmly invited to the public launch of a new resource to illustrate how Edinburgh could achieve zero carbon by 2040. Refreshments provided.

Screening of "Power to Change"

Wednesday 20 September, 6 - 8:30pm

Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation

Can our entire energy supply do without fossil fuels and nuclear power? This multi-award-winning film takes the audience on a journey through the world of renewable energy sources and meets the individuals fighting for a wholly-sustainable energy supply. 

Part of ECCI's programme of events for Climate Week and supported by ClimateXChange and SRS.

Plant a pot and grow herbs with the Vegetarian Society

Wednesday 20 September, 5:30 - 7:30pm

Room 2.06, Appleton Tower

Veg Soc will be hosting a drop-in session to highlight the importance of growing your own food and shopping locally in order to reduce your carbon footprint. Come along and paint a biodegradable plant pot, plant some seeds and take your finished product away with you.There will be refreshments and great company, and a chance to learn more about the society!

Friday night film: "Demain" with Learning for Sustainability Scotland / 2050 Climate Group

Learning for Sustainability Scotland and 2050 Climate Group invite all students and professionals to watch a special film screening of Demain ("Tomorrow") during Climate Week.
