Surgical Posts in Edinburgh

Basing your foundation years in Edinburgh will involve travelling to other hospitals.

In selecting posts for an individual trainee, the Foundation Supervisor will consider:

  • your long-term career intentions, if known
  • your likes and dislikes
  • personal and geographical factors

In a given year, each trainee would only be expected to travel between two geographic sites, such as Edinburgh and Fife, or Edinburgh and the Borders.

For details of the Scottish Foundation programme, please see the Scottish Foundation School page on the NHS Education for Scotland website (NES).
