Clinical Fellowships

One year clinical fellowships (Advanced Specialty Training Fellowships) are available for surgeons at the end of their general surgical training. Such posts would normally commence in August of each year. Opportunities exist specifically in HPB and transplant surgery but posts may become available in oesophagogastric surgery. Similar posts are available in Colorectal Surgery and Breast Surgery but are based at the Western General Hospital. These posts are funded by NHS Education Scotland (NES) and therefore complement existing specialist training registrar posts and are subject to review by the local training committee. Although there is open competition for these posts, priority is given to those based in the UK and EEA but applications are considered from outwith these regions. Other posts may become available funded by NHS Lothian

Preference is given to applicants who have evidence of training in these areas and are seeking to consolidate this experience. Evidence of academic achievement is expected of applicants either in the form of a postgraduate degree or significant publication output. Applicants would be expected to have support from a referee with the same specialist experience.
