Welcome to Edinburgh Colorectal Unit
The Edinburgh Colorectal Unit is one of Europe’s biggest. The unit offers tertiary referral colorectal surgical services for all aspects of benign and malignant colorectal conditions, both elective and emergency.
We provide all emergency and elective colorectal services to the Lothian’s and specialist diagnostic and treatment services to patients from across South East Scotland.
The Western General Hospital is the main centre of adult colorectal services in Edinburgh. The unit also provides service at St John’s Hospital, Roodlands Hospital, and Leith CTC.
Our extensive research facilities combined with the large caseloads allow us to conduct world class research in all fields of colorectal surgery.
There is a busy undergraduate and postgraduate training programme within the unit.
