International Baccalaureate
Entry requirements for applicants with International Baccalaureate (IB) qualifications.
For many degrees, we require you to have studied specific subjects at Higher Level (HL).
You must obtain the award of Diploma at a specific overall grade and achieve specific grades in three HL subjects.
You must achieve at least Grade 5 at Standard Level (SL) in English to be considered for entry.
Entry requirements
You must have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, our entry requirements for the degree you have applied for, to be considered for an offer of a place. You can use our degree finder to find entry requirements.

IB results
If you are made an offer from Edinburgh and decide to accept, either as your Firm or Insurance choice, you should make sure that we receive your IB results through UCAS when they are released.
Your school's IB Diploma programme coordinator will be able to help you do this. You can find instructions for IB centres on the release of IB Diploma results to UCAS on the IB website.

SL Mathematics subject requirements
When we ask for a Mathematics pathway at IB Standard Level, we can also accept relevant GCSE or SQA National 5 Mathematics subjects to meet the requirement, if you do not hold the subject at SL as part of your IB Diploma.
Please check our degree finder for further information about GCSE or National 5 grade requirements.
