When to apply
You should apply by the relevant deadline to make sure your application is considered.
UCAS application timetable
|1 September 2020||Applications open for 2021 entry.|
|15 October 2020||Deadline for all applications to medicine and veterinary medicine.|
|15 January 2021||Deadline for all other UK and EU applicants.|
|30 June 2021||This is the UCAS deadline for all international applicants. We may close applications before this date and advise you to apply by 15 January.|
We will consider all applications received by the relevant UCAS deadlines.
We aim to inform you of our decision on your application as quickly as possible. Provided you have applied by the October or January deadline, you can expect to receive our decision by the end of March.
Applying after deadlines
We will consider applications received after the relevant deadlines on an individual basis at our discretion. As demand for many of our degrees is high, we cannot guarantee that late applications will be considered.
Following UCAS deadlines, we will close certain degrees to further applications. If you are considering applying after the relevant deadline and UCAS Apply indicates that we are still accepting applications, please contact the relevant college admissions office to check the availability of places before submitting your application.
If you are applying to study medicine, you must sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) in 2020 before you submit your UCAS application, or apply for an exemption code from the UCAT consortium.
If you are applying to veterinary medicine at Edinburgh you must submit a Work Experience Summary (WES) form by 22 October 2020.
A link to the WES will be sent to you when you apply.
Art and design
If you are applying to an art or design degree at Edinburgh you must submit a mini-portfolio. Dates for the opening of the mini-portfolio submission site, and deadlines for submission, will be posted in March 2020.
