Undergraduate study - 2025 entry
Edinburgh: Extraordinary futures await.

YourEd School Programme

This is our offer to all students (S1 to S6) within our partner schools.

As a YourEd partner school and/or pupil, you will take part in activities throughout your school years from S1 to S6. You will receive information, advice and guidance about Higher Education (HE) and studying at the University of Edinburgh.

The YourEd School programme is open to all pupils within our partner schools. Dates and times for each of these sessions will be arranged directly with school staff and will take place during the school day.

Our workshops

S1 workshops

What is university?

This session introduces your S1 pupils to higher education and where it fits into their education journey. We also cover options available and the benefits of HE.

Campus visit

An opportunity to bring your S1 pupils onto campus to see and experience a university environment. The day will involve a range of interactive activities, campus tours, introducing pupils to relevant staff, current university students and alumni of their school currently studying with us.

S2 workshops

Course choices

We will provide useful tips and strategies when thinking about S3 course choices, linking this to entry requirements for university and the importance of National 5s for applications to HE.

Meet our students

In this session, former pupils from your school who now study at the University of Edinburgh will discuss their journey to HE, what university is like, share what they wish they’d have known and their future plans. This will end with a Q&A session.

S3 workshops

Why go to uni?

This session looks at the very important question of 'why go to university?'. We look at possible reasons young people might want to continue their studies, examine their own motivations, and explore the lifelong benefits of having a degree. This session will be supported by former pupils from your school, who are currently studying at the University of Edinburgh.

Campus visit

An opportunity to bring your S3 pupils onto campus. The day will involve a range of interactive activities, campus tours, introducing pupils to relevant staff, current university students and alumni of their school currently studying with us. The S3 visit will also touch on entry requirements and will involve a future planning session.

S4 workshops

Careers and HE opportunities

This session will look at the varied career opportunities available to university graduates. Pupils will hear from some of our fantastic graduates, finding out about the jobs and career paths they went into after university and how all of their experiences as a student, both in and out of classes, played a huge part in what they went on to do with their lives.

S5 course choices and entry requirements

We will look closely at entry requirements and provide guidelines on researching and navigating them via case studies of student grade profiles and the university options those grades map onto. Pupils will work on their own pathway plan, which will include a variety of different study options.

S5 workshops

UCAS

This session will go through the UCAS process step by step to ensure pupils know how to prepare and what to expect. We’ll also advise young people on how to make strategic choices by working through some examples to help them map their own UCAS journey.

My degree and me

Former pupils from your school, who are currently studying at the University of Edinburgh, will share their journey to university, their experiences of Highers, Advanced Highers and the application process. The students will also share their top tips on what they wish they’d have known at the start of S5.

S6 workshops

UCAS

This session will go through the UCAS process step by step to ensure pupils know how to prepare and what to expect. We’ll also advise young people on how to make strategic choices by working through some examples to help them map their own UCAS journey.

Personal statements

A session on how to structure and write the UCAS personal statement. We’ll work through real life examples with pupils and provide a worksheet to complete as we go along. By the end of the workshop, young people will have a clear understanding of what’s needed for a great personal statement and notes to begin writing their own personal statement.

SAAS and student funding

Taking pupils through the SAAS application process, timelines, student budgeting and the range of additional financial support available to students such as bursaries.
