Financial support

We spend millions of pounds every year to help students who want to study at Edinburgh. We offer the best financial aid package for undergraduate students in the UK.

Access Edinburgh Scholarship and other Access Awards

You might be eligible for awards that do not have to be paid back. This support is based on criteria such as income, background and personal circumstances. The Access Edinburgh Scholarship is available for care-experienced or estranged students and for students from low-income households.

UK students with children or dependants

If you are a UK student with children, in addition to fees and loans there are sources of funding which do not need to be repaid for which you may be eligible.

Disabled students

The Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) can be used to purchase specialist/assistive equipment, to employ personal assistants, and to cover other costs associated with your disability such as additional photocopying.

The amount available varies depending on which student funding body supports your fees and maintenance loans. It also varies depending on the kind of assistance you require.

We also have a Student Disability Service who may be able to assist with other useful information, including funding for disabled students who are not eligible to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance.
