News for IB candidates
Advice for applicants receiving their International Baccalaureate results.
If your results are sent to us by UCAS
We will shortly be receiving IB results for applicants whose results are sent directly to us by UCAS and will be processing decisions for candidates holding conditional firm or conditional insurance offers.
If your results are not sent to us by UCAS
If you have not already arranged for your results to be sent to the University, information on how to send us your transcripts is available on the IB website.
Your application status
You can check the status of your application via UCAS Track.
Don't worry if your application status has not yet been updated. We will soon receive the IB results from UCAS and it may take a day or two for us to process them.
If you have met your conditions
What to do next
Get excited! You're attending one of the world's top universities.
Make sure you log in to your MyEd account for information about what you should do next.
You should also check out our comprehensive guide to getting started as a new student.
If you have missed your conditions
If you do not meet the terms of your conditional offer, your application will still receive careful consideration. You can check the status of your application via UCAS Track.
Appealing your grades?
If you have missed the conditions of your offer, but are appealing your IB grades, please read the University policy regarding the provision of results at Confirmation to find out about how this may affect your place at Edinburgh.
If you feel that any special circumstances, such as illness, have affected your exam performance, we encourage you to follow the special circumstances procedures of the relevant exam board. Your school or college will be able to advise you about this.
If you met the terms of your conditional offer, and your IB results are being sent directly to the University by UCAS, your place will be confirmed automatically and you do not need to contact the University to advise us of your grades.
If you need to speak to us about your offer, please call the relevant college admissions office directly.
On Friday 5 July, 2019 the offices will be open to take calls between 9am and 5pm (British Standard Time). As the telephones are likely to be very busy during this period, your patience is greatly appreciated.
Admissions decisions are made by teams in the University’s three Colleges.
To find out which college your degree programme is part of, you can check the email correspondence from the admissions office dealing with your application. You can also check our degree finder for your chosen programme.
