Understanding Dementia - Open Lectures, Online Resources and Short Courses
For those who would like to know more about the condition, we have a wide variety of options available here at the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Open Learning.

This week marks the third of our Dementia Awareness and Prevention series with the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Dementia Prevention, which aims to improve the understanding of neurodegenerative diseases in addition to the lives of those living with or caring for those with the condition.
Open Lectures
There are two more lectures left in the series ‘Developing Treatments for Neurodegenerative Diseases’ and ‘Dementia Prevention: A Global Approach’ and spaces are still available. These lectures, which take place on Wednesday evenings at the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Open Learning, are open to everyone and free of charge.

Online Materials
While the series isn’t sequential, if you’d like to listen to the first two Open Lectures or if you’re unable to make it to our next ones, you’re in luck! This year, the Centre for Open Learning in collaboration with the Centre for Dementia Prevention created some online resources with the information discussed - with the help of our Digital Services Team.

Personal Development Short Courses
If you’re keen to learn more, we’re offering a one-day course in Term 3 ‘Living with Dementia: Communicating’. The weekend course will explore effective language and communication skills for those interacting or caring for people living with neurodegenerative disease.
