Study Skills Sessions
Starting any new course of study with the University of Edinburgh may involve using our systems for learning, communication and support.
Our study skills sessions are designed to make this process a little less daunting. Students studying on credit courses are encouraged to attend any of the following sessions:

|A welcome session for new and returning credit students on the Short Courses programme at the Centre for Open learning. This session will cover: matriculation, orientation, studying for credit, using essential online tools ('MyEd', 'Office 365' and 'Learn') and where to find further help and support.|
Tues 23 Jan at 17.15 OR Wed 24 Jan at 12.15 | Paterson's Land
|A guide to using essential digital tools for students taking Art and Design credit courses with the Centre for Open Learning. This session will cover: using Learn, using PebblePad, keeping a blog style journal and where to find further help and support.|

A guided overview of how to access and use the library and its services for all matriculated students on Short Courses at the Centre for Open Learning. Students should meet at the Main Library reception 5 mins prior to the session start time. Both sessions will be held at the Main University Library on George Square.

A guide to planning, researching, constructing and writing an essay for credit students taking short courses at the Centre for Open Learning. Many credit courses are assessed via the submitting of an academic essay in response to a set question. This session will give an overview of this and support you with planning, structuring and writing your essays.

|An overview of best practices for keeping a sketchbook and preparing an assessment portfolio for Art and Design.|

|A catch-all session for students enrolled on the Short Courses programme with the Centre for Open Learning who require further support accessing and using any of the University systems.|

|An overview of how to reference, avoid plagiarism, check and proof, present and submit your essay for assessment.|
