Arriving by train or bus

How to get to Open Day from Waverley Train station or Edinburgh Bus Station

Travel by train to Edinburgh Waverley Station, or by coach to Edinburgh Bus Station (formerly St. Andrew Square Bus Station).

Traveline Scotland

Our Student Ambassadors will be at Waverley Train Station on the 13th November from 08:30am until 11:00am to offer advice and directions to the central campus. They will be in the main concourse area of the station wearing bright red t-shirts with the University crest in white on the front.

Walking from the train or bus station

The University’s Central area (George Square) is a short walk from both the bus and train station. Once you are at the Central George Square campus you will be directed to where you need to go for each section of the Open Day.

Walking directions to the George Square campus

Please note that this route includes a steep hill. If this will be unsuitable, an alternative walking route is to walk along Princes Street – North Bridge – South Bridge – turning right at Old College or Chambers Street.

Local buses

You may prefer to take a bus directly to the relevant campus at the beginning of the day. A single journey on the local buses (Lothian Buses) costs £1.70 per adult, and 80p for children aged 5-15 years. An all-day ticket allowing unlimited journeys costs £4.00 for adults and £2.00 for children. Please note that when paying for a bus ticket, exact change is required.

A large number of buses run to our University campuses. You can plan your journey using the journey planner on the Lothian Buses website.
