Who is this programme for?
This degree is for dentists wishing to train as specialists in Orthodontics.

The programme will enable independent and reflective practice at the standard of a specialist in orthodontics.
Specialist Advisory Committee
This programme is approved by the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) as part of the training programme in orthodontics.
This applies to UK trainees in possession of a National Training Number (NTN) awarded by the Postgraduate Dental Dean for Scotland.
Students from outside of the UK and Ireland are not normally given a National Training Number.
Membership Exam in Orthodontics
In undertaking this DClinDent programme in orthodontics, you are eligible to enter for the Membership Examination in Orthodontics (MOrth) of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Courses and attendance
The programme consists of 13 courses. All courses are compulsory, assessed and credit-bearing.

In addition, you are expected to attend multidisciplinary clinics with maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry, and restorative dentistry on a rotating basis. You are also expected to attend at least one new patient clinic per week.

Teaching takes place in the Dundee and Glasgow Dental Schools, as well as in the EDI. This allows the students to meet for teaching and for personal and peer interaction.
