Corporate Law LLM
Study modes: Full-time, Part-time
Programme website: Corporate Law
Edinburgh University offers the perfect balance of high academic standard, beautiful surroundings and nature allowing you to delve into both.
The LLM in Corporate Law provides an in-depth knowledge of the legal, economic, financial, and governance matters covering the most relevant aspects in the life cycle of a corporation.
This innovative programme goes beyond a narrow focus on legal rules and situates the study of corporate law in a wider comparative and interdisciplinary context.
As a student of this programme, you will have the opportunity to develop a critical understanding of the key matters and the most recent developments in across three main areas: comparative and international corporate governance; economic analysis of corporate law and finance; and UK company law.
You must complete 180 credits of study – 60 credits are taken in the compulsory dissertation and the remaining 120 credits are taken in taught courses.
Courses will be taught in seminars, led by members of the Law School academic community and by experienced legal and business practitioners. In some courses you will be required to deliver individual or group presentations.
Entry to some courses depends upon you having studied the relevant topic at undergraduate level.
Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances or lack of demand for particular courses, we may not be able to run all courses as advertised come the start of the academic year.
On successful completion of the programme, you will have acquired an advanced interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of business transactions, as well as legal and financial skills that are particularly valuable to businesses, professional practices and regulatory bodies.
This programme is for individuals seeking to start or develop careers in the fields of corporate law, business or finance.
These entry requirements are for the 2023/24 academic year and requirements for future academic years may differ. Entry requirements for the 2024/25 academic year will be published on 2 October 2023.
