Welcome and orientation
In association with the Students’ Association, the University of Edinburgh welcomes you to the ‘Taste of Scotland’ on Wednesday 9th January. This evening event welcomes new students joining the University of Edinburgh to become immersed into Scottish culture and learn more about Scotland.

Times: 19:00 – 21:00 (GMT Time)
This is an exclusive event for visiting students joining us in January 2019. Come along and meet others to experience and discover more about Scotland’s culture with a taste of music, dance, food, arts, languages and literature in the spectacular Gothic Style Teviot Row House opened in 1889. We look forward to seeing you all for this fantastic fun filled evening, offering something for everyone.
Tickets are free, but we ask that you book via the Eventbrite booking link below to allow us to know how many people are coming along.
What will be happening on the night?
On the evening of Taste of Scotland, you will arrive in groups, with your university accommodation to Teviot Row House.
You will receive a unique postcard on the night with further information about what is on, to see and enjoy.
The postcard will offer everyone a chance to enter a prize draw – to win some great Scottish goodies.
Winners for the prize draw will be announced on Thursday 10th January, at the compulsory academic welcome talks.
Taste of Scotland at Teviot Row House will offer several Scottish themed rooms- experiencing Scotland's culture, food and dance
Rooms will include:
- Scottish Music
- Scottish Art
- Scottish foods and drinks tasters
- Languages and Literature
- Whisky tasting experience (limited availability)
