How to confirm your optional courses
Information about how to confirm your course choice(s).
Your School will inform you about how to register/enrol onto your optional courses. Depending on your School, this could be part of the meeting with your Personal Tutor (PT), maybe a separate meeting with your Teaching office/Student Support Team or maybe through an online form following an information session.
You should make your initial choice of optional course before teaching starts (21st September). This is particularly important if you want to take popular options where spaces may fill up quickly. However, the absolute deadline for course choice is the end of week 2 (2nd October) so if your timetable doesn’t work out or your first-course choice isn’t for you, you can change optional courses up to this deadline. If this situation arises please speak to your PT/Teaching Office/Student Support Team.
If your School offers a meeting, for example with a Personal Tutor or Student Support team, as part of choosing your optional courses, remember:
- To take along your initial research from DRPS, Path, and your notes and thoughts from the Course Options Hub videos produced by academics plus the live 'Let's Chat - course options' sessions, to discuss your thoughts in more detail.
- University staff can advise you about relevant options and discuss your plans but they cannot make the decision for you.
- University staff will enrol you on the available course that you have chosen
After you have been enrolled on your optional courses you will be allocated by the central timetabling team to teaching activities and their details will be uploaded and transferred into your personalised timetable.
** Classes for all students will appear on your timetable and you will be allocated to tutorial/lab group(s) **
