Information about Welcome Week and what to expect, including the activities which will help you prepare and be ready to start your studies.
Welcome Week 2021: Monday 13 September to Sunday 19 September 2021
Welcome Week is the week prior to the first week of the academic semester. Welcome Week will commence from Monday 13 September 2021, with a numnber of social events taking place from Saturday 11th September.
We currently expect that students will be with us in Edinburgh and plan to deliver a mix of in-person and digital teaching for the academic year starting in September 2021. We understand the importance of establishing networks so many of our in-person events during Welcome Week will give you the opportunity to meet with staff or connect with other students.
Programme of exciting and essential activities
We are so excited to meet you! All areas of the University are working together to create a mix of in-person and digital events to help you get settled into University. Our induction activities will give you all of the information you need to get started, along with opportunities to network, explore, contribute and give you that first and lasting connection to the University.
There will be a covered outdoor venue in the Bristo Square area to host society and sports fairs, student performances, exercise and mindfulness sessions, and screenings of films including the Principal’s Welcome Ceremony. Edinburgh University Sport will hold their Fair on Monday 13th September and Edinburgh University Students' Association will run the Activities Fair from Tuesday 14th September - Friday 17th September.
There will also be an online activities fair and Edinburgh University Students' Association will host online events before Welcome Week begins - meaning there really will be something for everyone!
