For most students studying at central campus or King's Buildings, you can easily get around by walking or cycling. For occasional use of the buses, contactless is your best option. If you will be using the buses every day, you can invest in a Ridacard - but our advice is to wait a few weeks first. You should settle into your routine and discover what works for your needs.

Edinburgh is a safe city with a low crime rate, but it is still important to pay attention to your personal safety while you're here. The University security team provide a 24/7 presence and response across the entire University and you can find their phone number on the back of your student card.
