Arrive from overseas

Discover more about packing your bags for the UK and airport safety when flying into Edinburgh from overseas.

When to arrive

For the 2022-2023 academic year, we anticipate that we will be able to return to an even greater in-person teaching model.  However, this will depend on Covid-19 restrictions and Scottish Government guidance at the time.  Students should aim to arrive in Edinburgh by the start of their programme of study and for Welcome Week.

Semester Dates 2022-2023

Welcome Week

If you are planning to live in the University of Edinburgh accommodation, you will not be able to move into University accommodation earlier than the date/time allocated to you before you start, unless you have been specifically told otherwise (usually due to an earlier course start date - see below).

Arrive and move into University accommodation

If you are planning to arrive earlier in Edinburgh than your accommodation move-in date, it is important that you find somewhere to stay on a temporary basis.

Arriving before Welcome Week

Courses starting mid-semester/earlier than the semester

Students who are beginning their studies at any time outwith the University arrival periods in September and January should keep in touch closely with their School Office to be kept informed.
