Sports and exercise

To help maintain your physical and mental wellbeing, join our range of sport activities, including becoming a member of the University gym, taking part in club sport and having a go at our more relaxed intramural and recreational sport activities.

Club sport

The University's Sports Union has more than 60 sports clubs for you to join, with a huge variety in types of activities available to suit different interests and abilities.

You don't have to be a professional athlete to join any Sports Club, nor do you have to know how to play to join a Sports Club. Being part of a club will help you to develop new interests and experiences, meet like-minded people and most importantly, have fun and keep active.

Our clubs offer regular coaching, training, trips and competition, both locally and nationally and are open to everyone, no matter your experience.

Football UoE

If you’re looking for a more relaxed alternative to Club Sport, you can join an intramural sport activity, including football, hockey and rugby.

Intramural sport

There are also recreational sport opportunities like playing dodgeball at lunchtime, trying your hand at archery tag, climbing one of Scotland’s famous munros or taking part in free stressbusters yoga at exam time.

These are fun and informal ways for you to be active, try new things and meet friends in a relaxed environment as and when it suits you.

The Sports Union’s Coaching and Volunteering Academy gives you loads of opportunities to excel and gain skills to help in future employment, or seek funding for coaching and officiating qualifications.
