International Student Barometer (ISB)

The ISB ran at the University of Edinburgh from 2012 – 2016.

What did it ask about?

The questionnaire was aimed at students studying outside their home country. It asked international students about their decision-making, expectations, perceptions and intentions from when they applied to Edinburgh and throughout their time here.

What happens to my responses?

The individual responses are anonymous.

The responses from students at the University of Edinburgh are aggregated into a confidential report, along with comparative insights derived from the global data.

Why should I take part?

The survey results are used by the University support services and Edinburgh Global to further improve the experience of international students.

What happens afterwards?

We analyse the results and make recommendations for change based on the findings. Some of the findings may prompt further research so we can gain more of an understanding of how students feel about particular issues.

We explain how and where we have made changes and which new services have been introduced based on what students told us.
