Internal and student notes

You can write internal notes on the progression record for staff reference. You can also write notes for the student to see once the decision has been published.

The note fields can be found within the individual student's progression record (click the edit button on the end of the student's progression line).

Leaving notes is optional. If you do choose to leave them, you may want to come up with some standards/principles and/or examples within your school for how notes should be written. This way students within your school can receive consistent messages and staff members, including members of the board, can better understand what internal notes mean.

Internal notes

The notes you leave in the "Internal note" box will pull through to the BI Progression & Awards reports under the "Internal Notes" field.

You can use this box to leave any notes relevant to colleagues or members of the board to explain progression decisions or changes that have been made.

Notes left here will not be visible to the student.

Please note, on some of the Progression & Awards reports there is also a field called just "note" that sits next to course marks information. This is pulling from the Assessment Hub notes rather than progression.

Note for student

The student notes field is surrounded by a blue and white striped box. Any notes you leave here will be published to the student when you publish the progression or award decision under the title "Message from your School".

Each progression or award decision comes with a standard description of what it means, so you don't need to write notes to explain this. You can see what these standard descriptions are in the spreadsheet on the List of Progression & Award Decisions page.

Next steps

If you need to further edit the progression and award information, including adding notes, see the guidance under Editing Progression & Award information.

Otherwise, continue with where you are in the end to end process (see Process Overview).
