Identical resits

An identical resit means the student will resit their failed assessment with exactly the same structure from first sit including all components and items under that assessment.

This scenario is fully supported in the Assessment Hub so you can enter and calculate marks in the usual way.

If you need to see an example of an identical resit scenario please see the guidance on the Reassessment types page.

How to process identical resits

1) Set the reassessment type

Make sure the reassessment type is set to "Identical" so the exact same structure is created in the resit record.

For guidance see Reassessment types

2) Enter resit marks

You can enter marks via the Enter Marks screen by selecting the item or assessment under the resit side of the screen

For guidance see Enter resit marks.

3) Calculate a resit result

Once new marks have been entered for the resit assessment, you can calculate a resit result in the usual way (see Calculating marks).

Any assessments passed in first sit will be included in the calculation for a new course result. For more information on how the resit result is calculated see Resit calculations.

4) Go to the Resit Board

Resits Board Report

5) Ratify & Publish

After the board ratify and publish the resit result.

Students can't see the assessment structure for resits even if there are components and items. They'll only see the final resit result but still have the option to view the full structure and marks from their first sit.

For more information see Student view.
