Upcoming events for S4-5

This June ACES are running two exciting practical online workshops: Design Taster Workshop and Fine Art Taster Workshop. These one-off workshops are a brilliant opportunity for anyone interested in Design or Art Subjects and want to know what it is like to study these subjects at university. We would encourage anyone interested in either Design subjects or Fine art subjects to sign up to the workshop which is relevant to their subject of interest.

Due to limited spaces we are encouraging pupils to sign up to only one workshop. Please note that there are 15 – 20 places available on each workshop, and places will be allocated on a first come, first-served basis.

Who:  Both workshops are for current S4 and S5 pupils interested in studying either fine art or design related subjects at university. Please note by current S4 and S5 pupils we mean those pupils who will be in S5 and S6 at the start of the next academic year.

Where:  Online (Microsoft Teams)

During this workshop you will develop skills and techniques relevant to Design subjects at university such as working to a brief and using drawing to capture your design ideas. This workshop is led by a current ECA design tutor and our Design Student Ambassador, who can give you a personal insight of what studying Design after school is like. As part of the session you will work in small teams to design a 'Community Social Space for Young People'. You will discuss what already exists and how previous social spaces have had to change due to the pandemic.

This workshop will teach practical skills relevant to Fine Art subjects at university including mark-making, collage and collaborative drawing. The session is led by our ACES tutor and Fine Art Student Ambassador, who can give you a personal insight of what studying Fine Art subjects after school is like. During the session you will be invited to create individual and group artworks that take inspiration from familiar environments as we imagine new collective spaces and discuss what the future might be like as things begin to open up.

We need your mobile number so that we can let you know about important changes to the workshop / event.
If you are already using Teams with your school, please share your school email address with us. If your Teams email address is the same as your correspondence email address above, please copy that into this box
