REGULAR ACES WORKSHOPS

These sessions are for students planning to apply to a creative course at university. Over the course of the year, we will do lots of drawing, observation, gathering and making. You will have chance to explore new materials and techniques and use what you've learnt to respond to a variety of briefs. We will support you to explore your future options and you will receive advice and guidance throughout the application process, to help you create a competitive application. 

Portfolio Preparation: introduction

If you’ll be in S5 or S6 after your exams, and are thinking about applying to a creative course at university, then these workshops will show you exactly what’s involved and what you need to succeed – we highly encourage you to attend. You will receive advice and guidance on:

  • Portfolios
  • Interviews
  • UCAS application
  • Personal Statements

You will learn how to develop your sketchbook and we will also take you on a guided tour of the ECA degree show!

Who: New S5 and S6 students (if you’ll be in S5 or S6 after your exams )

When: Friday 7 June AND 14 June, 2 - 4:30pm OR Saturday 8 June 11 - 4pm

ONE-OFF EVENTS & OTHER ACTIVITIES

These are one-off events and activities. You will have chance to explore different areas of art / design / architecture, go on trips, meet university students, tour ECA and lots more!

 

ECA Performance Costume Show

Chance to see Edinburgh College of Art performance costume students' final year degree work and perhaps even catch upcoming designers before they get famous!

Chance to see Edinburgh College of Art fashion students' final year degree work and perhaps even catch upcoming designers before they get famous!

Architecture Portfolio Workshops - with ACES Tayside!

If you’ll be in S6 after your exams, and are thinking about applying for Architecture, this is for you. Join us at the University of Dundee to develop your creative skills and produce new work suitable to be used in a portfolio for Architecture. You can expect:

  • drawing
  • model making
  • photography
  • digital portfolio support
  • personal statement support

You will gain insight into life as an architecture student, spend time working in the University design studios and find out what to expect from an Architecture degree, and we'll go over everything that you need to know to make a strong application to architecture.

Who: New S6 students (if you’ll be in S6 after your exams) and are planning to apply for Architecture or Landscape Architecture, to start in 2020

Where: the University of Dundee

When: Friday 14th AND Friday 21st June. Sessions run from 10am - 3pm. You MUST be able to attend both sessions.

 

ACES Summer School!

We will do lots of drawing, observation, gathering and making. You will work closely with University tutors, recent graduates and current students to experiment with new materials and techniques and use what you learn to respond to a variety of briefs.

Students who are also taking part in our portfolio preparation sessions will be supported to produce new work for their portfolios.

Who: any new student in S4 - S6 (if you'll be in S4, S5 or S6 after your exams)

When: Weds 24 – Fri 26 July +/or Weds 7 – Fri 9 August (10:30am – 3pm) You must be able to attend all 3 days of the summer school. You can come to both summer schools, or just one!
