Student Recruitment & Admissions
Edinburgh. Extraordinary futures await.

Information for staff

Information for staff who are looking to make use of the Student Ambassador Scheme.

The Student Ambassador Scheme is a student employment programme which brings together a diverse cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate students to support the university in recruitment and outreach activities. The breath of work undertaken by Ambassadors is broad, for example, peer-to-peer text chat, social media, student panels, campus visits/tours, and supporting events online or on-campus.  Ambassadors  receive specific training to support the activity that is expected of them, this is either provided centrally or if a niche task, we expect you to provide the training.

Currently we have over 140 student ambassadors, representing each School (representation varies by level of study).  Therefore we should hopefully be able to support your work request, whether the work is School specific or anyone could do the work.

Student Ambassadors are a great way to integrate student voice into your work, or providing extra support where appropriate .  Ambassador enjoy the varied types of work and the flexibility around their studies and other commitments.

Ambassadors are employed by the University as part time, casual workers on a guaranteed hour’s contract. This means that they choose when they can and when they want to work.

As a result, the Student Ambassador team cannot guarantee that all work requests will be fulfilled. However, the team will do the best they can to carry out all requests.
