University of Edinburgh Events App Privacy Statement
This policy explains how we (The University of Edinburgh) use any personal information that is collected about you when you download and use the University of Edinburgh Events App.
By using the app, you consent to the collection, retention and use of your personal information in accordance with the terms of this policy.
Collection of information
Information is collected about you when you download and use the University of Edinburgh Events App. The information collected is: (a) usage data reflecting your behaviour while using the app (b) information you provide in response to surveys while using the app.
Personal information (ie. Your name and email address) is collected about you by Guidebook inc. when you choose to register with Guidebook, this is personal information you choose to contribute during the Guidebook registration process.
If you do not wish for your details to be held with Guidebook, as per their Privacy Policy (see below) then you should not register your details. The University of Edinburgh Events app can be used effectively without providing these details.
How we will use your information
The information you provide will be used to process event bookings used through the app. We may also contact you to undertake post-event evaluations.
The University of Edinburgh Events App is a third-party service that is not owned or managed by the University of Edinburgh. The application and service are created, owned and managed by Guidebook Inc.
This privacy policy only refers to the way the University of Edinburgh will use your information. You should also review Guidebook’s terms and conditions and privacy policy as we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies.
Guidebook Terms and Conditions
The information provided by users when they log in, create contact cards, check in at an event, and share photos (all of which are optional actions) is stored on Guidebook's cloud instance: Amazon Web Service, United States.
Retention
Student Recruitment & Admissions do not hold the personal data you have provided when registering with the University of Edinburgh Events app. Guidebook retains the Personal Information received as described in the Guidebook Privacy Policy for as long as you use any Guidebook service or as necessary to fulfil the purpose(s) for which it was collected.
Access to your information and correction
You have the right to request a copy of the information that Guidebook holds about you. If you would like a copy of this information, please contact us. Guidebook accepts data deletion requests by email and will endeavour to remove all relevant data within a 30 day period.
You may also ask us to correct or remove any inaccurate information.

We keep this privacy policy under regular review and we will post any updates on this webpage. This privacy policy was last updated on 25 March 2022.
