Studentships are available to applicants accepted onto an eligible PhD Human and Physical Geography programme commencing study in the 2017-2018 academic year.
Each studentship covers the UK/EU rate of tuition fee as well as 4 years of stipend funding at the Research Council UK rate. It is expected successful candidates will spend at least 20% of the time teaching within the Geography degree programme with 80% of time spent on doctoral research.
The studentships are available to UK and EU nationals who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for on one of the eligible PhD programmes listed below:
PhD Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (Environmental Sustainability)
PhD Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences
PhD Geology and Geophysics
Applicants must be commencing study within the 2017-2018 academic year.
The successful candidate will possess, or expect to obtain, a first or upper-second class undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Geography or a related subject area. Other essential attributes are good presentation and communication skills (written and oral).
The School will not generally consider candidates who have already obtained a PhD, or formal equivalent, as a result of direct research training.
Applications for this scholarship are no longer being accepted for 2017-18 as the deadline of 14th April 2017 has now passed.
Applications close on 14th April 2017 and it is anticipated that interviews will be held in late April with successful candidate being advised by early May.
