Head of School Scholarships (GeoSciences)

The School of GeoSciences is delighted to offer a number of scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic session.

Three scholarships worth £5,000 towards tuition fees are available to applicants of any nationality. A further two awards covering full tuition fees are available to applicants who are liable for the overseas rate of fee.


Applications from students studying a full-time taught Masters degree in one of the following eligible subject areas are considered:

  • MSc Carbon Management
  • MSc Earth Observation and Geoinformation Management
  • MSc Ecosystem Services
  • MSc Energy, Society and Sustainability
  • MSc Environment and Development
  • MSc Environment, Culture and Society
  • MSc Environmental Sustainability
  • MSc Geographical Information Science
  • MSc Marine Systems and Policies

Applicants who have already commenced their programme of study on the closing date are not eligible for this scholarship.

Applicants intending to study part-time or online distance learning courses are not eligible for this scholarship.


The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the international equivalent of a UK 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.


Applications for this scholarship are no longer being accepted for 2017-2018 as the deadline of 16th June 2017 has now passed.


A Selection Committee will meet to select the recipients and all candidates will be notified of the outcome, with results expected in early August.
