Muriel Smith Scholarship
The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh is delighted to invite applications for a postgraduate scholarship to be awarded in 2022-2023.
One scholarship is available to a prospective student on selected MSc programmes.
Award
The award covers tuition fees for a maximum of one year (at the Home rate) and you must be domiciled in Scotland for a minimum of four years prior to starting your degree. Successful Overseas applicants will be liable for the difference between the UK and Overseas fees rates.
Eligibility
This award will be given to an eligible masters student on one of the following three programmes:
- MSc by Research in French
- MSc by Research in Spanish (Hispanic Studies)
- MSc in Translation Studies - specialising in French or Spanish
PhD students are not eligible to apply for this scheme.
The scholarship is to be awarded in one year of study only, part-time students will have the Home tuition fees paid in each of the two years of study.
Applications for the Scholarship must be made by 2nd May 2022.

Selection procedure
The award will be made on the basis of academic merit and the benefits to the student and judged by the Head of the Department of European Languages and Cultures.
The successful candidate will be notified of the award in June 2022.
