The George Lindsay Cooper and Madeleine Bentley Scholarships
Three scholarships are available to cover full tuition fees for selected taught Master’s programme offered by or affiliated with the Edinburgh Futures Institute for entry in 2022-2023.
These scholarships will support applicants who may face barriers in accessing postgraduate study.
Award
Each award covers the full UK tuition fee and is available for full-time and part-time study and for both on campus or online study. Awards will be paid directly towards tuition fees.
Eligibility
The scholarships are available to UK applicants who have been accepted onto one of the following Master’s programmes offered by, or affiliated with, the Edinburgh Futures Institute:
- MSc Creative Industries
- MSc Data, Inequality and Society
- MSc Education Futures
- MSc Finance, Technology and Policy
- MSc Future Governance
- MSc Leading Major Programmes
- MSc Narrative Futures: Art, Data, Society
- MSc Service Management and Design
Applicants who are fully sponsored by their employer, in receipt of a full scholarship or have already accepted another scholarship from the University of Edinburgh are ineligible for this scholarship.
Criteria
All scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit, however the candidate’s ability to demonstrate that their financial and socioeconomic circumstances significantly restrict their ability to continue their education without substantial financial support and their future and personal career goals, and the extent to which the scholarship will support the candidate to meet these goals will also be taken into consideration.

Eligible applicants should complete an online scholarship application
The scholarship deadline is 23:59 BST 14 July 2022.
In order to gain access to the scholarship application system, applicants must have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh. Please note that, following the submission of an application for admission, it can take up to ten working days for all system checks to be completed and for access to be granted.
The online scholarship application form is located in EUCLID and can be accessed via MyEd our web based information portal at https://www.myed.ed.ac.uk

Selection process
All applications will be reviewed by a scholarship panel comprising a number of University staff. Applications will be assessed on academic achievements supplied as part of the admissions process and answers given via the scholarship application that will provide evidence of financial need and career goals. The panel will make its decision on the basis of your financial and socioeconomic circumstances, career goals, and academic achievement.
