MSc by Research: Measuring Quality in Teacher Education

Applications are invited for an MSc by Research Education and Sport - 2 Years (Part-time) studentship at the Moray House School of Education and Sport in 2019. The funding of the studentship will cover tuition fees at the EU home rate for two years of part-time study.

Award

The focus of the research to be undertaken for the MSc by Research is specific, linking into the Measuring Quality in Teacher Education (MQuITE)project.  The studentship will commence on 1st October 2019.

MQuITE is a Scottish Government funded research project running for six years, involving all ITE universities in Scotland, and the GTCS. The aims of the project are to involve all stakeholders in the development of a contextually appropriate means of measuring quality in initial teacher education in Scotland and to track the experiences of a cohort of graduate teachers from across Scotland over a five-year period.

Eligibility

The studentship will commence on 1 October 2019. At the University of Edinburgh, to study at postgraduate level you must normally hold a degree in an appropriate subject, with an excellent or very good classification (equivalent to first or upper second class honours in the UK), plus meet the entry requirements for the specific postgraduate research programme as articulated on the Degree Finder:

Applying

The scholarship application deadline is Friday 28 June 2019.

Applicants should complete the following 'Moray House Scholarship Proposal Form- MQuITE' (Word):

 

This research proposal should be no more than 2 pages in length excluding references. The proposal should expand on the outline of the research provided to indicate the following:

  • background literature informing the research
  • possible research questions
  • possible research design(s) and ethical considerations.

The completed scholarship proposal form should be uploaded as part of your application for the MSc by Research in Education and Sport with the filename: MQuITE_Scholarship_surname.
