School of Biological Sciences Taught Postgraduate Bursaries
The School of Biological Sciences is offering bursaries for applicants studying eligible masters programmes in the 2023-2024 academic session.
Awards
We are offering four scholarships, for the sum of £10,000 each.
These awards will be tenable for the 2023/24 academic year and will be automatically deducted from your tuition fee.
All scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community, and will engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award.
We offer our postgraduates a range of training and development opportunities appropriate to their programme of study.
Eligibility
The scholarships will be awarded to new applicants who have applied for admission to a School of Biological Sciences postgraduate taught Masters programme of study at the University commencing in September 2023.
Applicants must have, or expect to obtain, the equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.
Eligible students must be nationals and residents of countries outwith the UK and studying one of the following full-time campus-based programmes:
- MSc Biochemistry
- MSc Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants
- MSc Bioinformatics
- MSc Biotechnology

MSc Data Science for Biology
- MSc Drug Discovery and Translational Biology

MSc Ecology, Evolution and Biodiversity
- MSc Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology
- MSc Systems and Synthetic Biology
- MSc Quantitative Genetics & Genome Analysis (including Animal Breeding & Genetics, Evolutionary Genetics, Human Complex Trait Genetics)

Criteria
The bursaries will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
Applying
Applications for the 2023-2024 academic session are no longer being accepted for this scholarship as the 21st June 2023 deadline has now passed.
