Funding for Japanese Studies
The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures will offer a studentship for applicants who are pursuing a Masters programme in Japanese studies in the 2020-2021 academic year
The purpose of the programme is to build upon The Nippon Foundation (TNF) funded Sasakawa Lectureship Programme that was administered by the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation between 2008 and 2013 and provided for 13 full-time lectureships in Japanese studies at 12 UK universities.
The award is worth £10,000 and tenable for one academic year.
Applicants to the PhD programme in Japanese Studies will automatically be considered for this scholarship. Candidates wishing to enrol on our East Asian Relations MSc or East Asian Studies PhD (who have a research focus on Japan) or on our Japanese MSc by Research programme are also welcome to apply.
Applicants to the Masters or PhD programme in Japanese Studies will be automatically considered for this scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded on academic merit and the potential to excel at the chosen programme of study, which will be based on the information provided in your application to the degree programme.
